On Saturday 6 September, from 12:30pm to 4pm, the Marlborough Chinese Community hosted their annual Chinese Language Week celebration at St Christopher’s Anglican Church Hall, bringing together more than 300 people.

The event was honoured by the presence of local leaders, including Mayor Nadine Taylor, as well as representatives of China in New Zealand.

The afternoon was filled with rich cultural activities: captivating traditional dances and music, calligraphy workshops, art displays, a dress-up area with traditional Chinese clothing, tea ceremonies, delicious food and desserts, and this year’s special highlight, a presentation on Traditional Chinese Medicine. Guests were introduced to methods of early illness detection and received practical health tips for prevention, adding an enriching and educational aspect to the celebration.

The celebration was, as always, beautifully organised by the Marlborough Chinese Community, offering a meaningful opportunity to experience and learn from Chinese traditions while strengthening community harmony.
