Evening Connection Launch!

On Friday 1 August, Marlborough Multicultural Centre officially launched Evening Connection – a new space to meet, chat, share ideas, and talk about what matters most to our community.

Opening the night was MMC’s Community Development Partner, Margaret Western, who welcomed everyone with warmth:

“It’s so nice to see everyone sharing, mingling, and connecting. This is just the beginning of something special we’ll build together. A huge thank you to the amazing team at Watery Mouth Cafe for your outstanding service and warm hospitality, you made us feel right at home. I’ve known this lovely family since they first arrived in Marlborough, and I’m so proud of all they’ve achieved, and you should be too!”

Our special guest, Matilde Figuracion, MMC Chairperson, then took the stage to share her inspiring journey, arriving in New Zealand from the Philippines, to building successful businesses, and leading MMC through recent years. Her story of discipline, respect, and honesty reminded us that anything is possible when we put our hearts into it.

Matilde also invited everyone to become MMC members:

“We’re now welcoming new members to join the Marlborough Multicultural Centre, it’s free and easy. Simply fill out our online form and be part of our vibrant community.” - MMC Membership Online Form.

The rest of the evening was filled with friendly conversations, laughter, and delicious bites prepared especially for the occasion by Watery Mouth Cafe. We were delighted to welcome new arrivals from Nigeria, who shared how much they appreciated the chance to meet members of the local African community in Marlborough.
