On Tuesday, June 10th, despite the chilly winter weather, the warmth of culture and connection filled the room during our Language Market, part of International Languages Week.
Organised in collaboration with Welcoming Communities, this unique event brought together around 120 people from across Marlborough to celebrate the incredible diversity of languages spoken in our region.
The Market featured interactive stalls where participants could:
- Learn new phrases and alphabets
- Explore books and crafts from different cultures
- Sing in other languages
- Join games and vocabulary challenges
- And, of course, enjoy traditional homemade food from around the world!
It was a relaxed, friendly space where everyone, whether newly arrived or long-time local, could connect, share stories, and celebrate their heritage or discover someone else’s.

We’re proud to support events like this that make Marlborough a more welcoming, inclusive place.
Keep an eye on our events calendar for more ways to get involved, because when we share our language, we share who we are.
