Blenheim - Marlborough Multicultural Centre (MMC) is inviting the whole community to the inaugural Marlborough Multicultural Night Market at Beavertown, a free evening event celebrating the food, culture and creativity of the region's many ethnic communities.

The market runs from 4pm to 8pm on Friday 25 September 2026 at Brayshaw Heritage Park in Redwoodtown, delivered in partnership with Marlborough Museum. Visitors can look forward to authentic food stalls, live cultural performances, a craft and product market, activities for children, and access to the heritage village and museum.

“This is about giving Marlborough's ethnic communities a stage to share what makes their cultures special, and giving the wider community a warm, welcoming reason to come along and celebrate with them,” says MMC Centre Manager Matilde Figuracion. “We want people to come hungry, curious, and ready to be part of it.”

MMC has served Marlborough's multicultural community since 2006 and marks its 20th anniversary this year, having supported people from more than 35 nationalities across the region. The Night Market builds on the success of MMC's annual Multicultural Festival, which drew more than 6,000 people in 2026, and offers a smaller, more frequent way for communities to connect throughout the year.

The event is a Zero Waste event. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own reusable cups, plates and utensils. EnviroHub will be on-site with a trailer to wash used utensils and will also provide utensils to stallholders and attendees who need them.

The Night Market in September is a pilot project, with a second event planned for December 2026. Held at Brayshaw Heritage Park, home to Marlborough Museum and a heritage village of historic buildings and a working vintage railway, the event also connects newcomers with the region's history, giving migrants and former refugees the chance to see their own stories reflected alongside Marlborough's.
